An 8-year-old Brooklyn boy

(09/30/10) BROOKLYN - An 8-year-old Brooklyn boy who has been writing since he was 3 years old recently had his writings published for the first time.

John Jobin McAuliffe’s father is a veteran writer of more than 30 years. He included his son in his most recent publication, "Snappy the Fox and Other Sleeptime Stories." The compilation of 11 stories featured three written by his child.

McAuliffe is being homeschooled because his most recent school was too far. His parents say there are no gifted and talented schools in their district, so until they find the perfect school for John, they'll continue to teach him at home.
